Dude, you rock... I dunno what happened, or how I got there, but this worked.

I now have duplicates of channels on my wii now

    2 homebrew
    2 weather
2 news... you get the idea

How do I safely delete and figure out which ONES to delete.. or just delete all and start from scratch?

    Again, thanks a million!!!!!

You can delete system channels with wiimod. Load it and go to the advanced menu, title manager. They are found under system channels, they are all safe to delete. Delete what you want, keep what you like. E = usa, P = euro, J = jap, k = kor, I think you should be able to identify the difference with that.

Never update through Nintendo, it's possible that you could brick (again) and you will certainly lose most of your softmod stuff.

Menu level really doesn't matter when playing games. What's important is that all IOS and cIOS are updates, which if you ModPack and IOS-Update installed everything from the Softmod any Wii guide (in my sig), you are good.

4.1 has benefits over 4.3 in that you have more hacking options if you have to ever do it all from scratch again, and I heard it makes brick recovery easier. But that's "The Frog's" area of expertise, not mine.
