Bricked wii, netflix won't fix. Unknown cause

    Hello,

I have a wii that I bought broken from someone on kijiji for 10 dollars so I figured it couldn't hurt to have a go at fixing it, plus the main reason I got it was because I also wanted to solder in my wiikey mod chip that I had lying around from when I accidentally ordered the wrong chip. Anyway the mod chip is not the problem I know it works fine because I tested the drive on my other wii after I had installed the chip.

I had followed Mauifrogs guide last time I had purchased a broken unit online and it worked like a charm following the netflix method. This time however I put my copy of netflix in the wii and booted it using the gamecube controller method. It starts up and gives me the option of quitting or edit my network settings. When I click edit the settings the disc spins and for about half a second you hear that wii channel sound in the background then the dreaded "system files are corrupt" message appears forcing me to turn it off. If I select quit instead of editing the network settings, you see the wii channel shadow for a second then it hangs on black screen again forcing a restart.

I do not believe this console was softmodded or anything before, the disc drive only blinks once when starting up and it is presently on 4.2U. I didn't think I would be able to boot the "autoboot anyregion changer" disc but I made a copy of it anyway and tried it out. From the recovery menu when I put the disc in it spins for a few seconds then stops and the 4.2U stays at the bottom (I am assuming this is because I don't have the trucha bug).

I should also note that the netflix disc will boot without going through recovery menu. When i start up the console with the disc in the drive I get the health and safety warning; press the A button screen. If I don't touch anything netflix will boot up the same way it would through the recovery menu, however the result is the same. As soon as I hit the A button after that warning screen with no disc in drive I am presented with the corrupt system files message.

I have been digging through information and couldn't find anything so I was hoping to get some advice here. I was planning on going out and picking up a game with 4.3U and seeing I could fix it through an update (just wanted an oppinion first if that would most likely work).

If anyone has some ideas about this that would be great.

I will give that a try, I wasn't sure if it would work as the boot disc for anyregion changer did not boot up from the recovery menu, I thought this would be the same.

Use disc swap to load ssbb-pal, load hackmii with smash stack pal. Then install HBC, bootmii, make a nand backup (chapter 1 of softmod guide), then do chapter 2 of softmod guide including ios update and system menu 4.1, install priiloader. Once you get hackmii loaded, do the whole process without restarting the wii.

Never seen this disc swap method. Would this be the guide I would be following? Thanks mauifrog

Also, could I use the mariokart-pwns method as opposed to the disc swap method?

Sorry for the double post, I was on my phone and could not figure out how to edit while on mobile, thought I was editing and it ended up double posting.

Ok, so I got Mariokart pwns running and I follow your guide on booting into smash bros PAL. Once I am in SSBB I created the savegame after resetting from the VC Demo menu. Now for some reason no matter what I try it will not load the smashstack exploit from my 1gb SD card. I have tried both of giantpunes w/save game and wo/save game custom stages and all I am brought to is create new stage. I have the files placed in the correct directory. I don't know what I am doing wrong here.

I appreciate the help mauifrog. I renamed the folder and bingo it worked. After that I followed Chapter 1 and 2 of your guide and everything installed without a hitch, no errors. So I can now run bootmii, priiloader and hombrew channel but when I try to start the wii up I still get the corrupt system files error after the health and safety screen.

I should also note that I installed all optional installs including ios update and 4.1U system menu (no errors)

Have look at your nand.bin with nandbincheck
    Code:
    nandbincheck nand.bin -all -v
    giantpune's Nand Tools.zip
