Exclamation Black screen after downgrading from SM 4.3U to SM4.1U-449

I have a black Wii with the System Menu 4.3U. I decided to softmod it using the "SoftMod Any Wii" guide. Everything went great until Chapter 2 Part 1 of the Guide where it recommends the downgrade to SM4.1U-449. The MD5 verified fine for all 3 wads of the SM4.1. The installation of all 3 wads through WiiMod completed ok. When I went back up to the list of all WiiMod functions I noticed that the "IOS" item had red font. I think it was white (as all other items) before starting the 4.1 wad install. After I pressed "home" on the Wii remote to exit WiiMod the TV screen went black and the Wii does not respond to the "reset" button. It makes a disc eject sound when I press the "eject" button (there is no disc of course). It also ignores any buttons on the remote. However if I long press the "power" button the Wii powers down. One more short press and the Wii powers up. However I still get the black screen.

I have the NAND backup files but I don't know how to use them. Please help me to restore my Wii. Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like you did not install the wads from the mod pack, the red highlight of the ios means that your system menu does not have a functional system ios. Only boot2 bootmii or nand programing can fix this Wii.

Necessary it's not, agreed. But at the same time, by doing so if a user ever encounters certain kinds of bricks --- it would give that user options that would otherwise not be available if already on SM4.3

@boob4me: I followed the "SoftMod Any Wii" guide and my Wii got bricked during the recommended downgrade to SM4.1, just before Ch2/Part2 "Install Priiloader". So Priiloader is not installed. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!

@mauifrog: Thanks for the reply. I thought I did install the 30 mods from the ModPack and the 25 mods from the IOS-Update. But given where I am now I don't think boot2 bootmii method will work since mine was a black Wii with SM4.3. Looks like my only option is NAND programming. How do I go about it? I do have NAND backup made by bootmii before the Wii got bricked. What do I need - tools, software? Can you please point me to any tutorials/guides. Thank you!

There is a guide on hand programming in the sticky section of the bricked Wii forum. You can do it yourself or send it to a professional, streamline HD, deadlyfoez, etc
