I'm not exactly sure what recent autoboot discs there are for any newer Wii updates. I ran my SaveMii and the current version it shows on the black screen I have is 4.2.
Any suggestions?

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has the 4.3 update on it ;)Quote:

But, I have another weird problem. The disk drive isn't functioning properly. It won't spin the disk to read it.
Well then the disc with the update won't help you lol, wait for one of the more knowledgable mods/users to respond.
You might have to replace the drive before you can fix you issue.
Something is seriously FUBAR there...
Before my Wii was "bricked", the system wouldn't read a disc before the menu began to freeze. I think I damaged the disk drive because I accidentally had it running on Skyward for a few days without realizing it, while it was next to my xbox.
That, or ninjas.
Damn ninjas (still cooler than pirates lol). So you actually left the system on with a game running for days? Or did I misread that?Quote:

After that the system would freeze when it started, and eventually it came to the black screen. Right now I want to assume the DVD drive is broken, or something. Somehow that led it to bricking the Wii.
So, I have the Wii's shell taken off, and looked at the DVD drive while I turned it on. It makes squeaky noise when it tries to read the game, so I'm assuming the motor is broken.
Disconnect the ribbon cable and power from the DVD drive. Good chance your Wii will boot (maybe)
