Everything I've read, and everything I've tried points to the wasabi dx chip I got was not pre-configured to autoboot... either that or the disks might not have been burning properly, or I did something wrong.

(multiple post on accident, how do you delete these posts?... if they cannot then I guess it is now reserved for future information as needed)

Download smashsmall and extract with 7zip. Use regionfrii to set region to USA. Use wii iso renamer v3 to change disc ID to 0SBE01 (zero for auto boot, E for USA). Burn the disc. Download smash stack pal and install to your SD card, rename the exploit from RSBP to 0SBE. Use smash stack to load the hackmii installer, complete soft mod guide including 4.1 sm install.

NEED HELP updating a MODIFIED WII. Please help!

We bought a Wii from someone who didn't tell us it was "modified". When we try to play certain games, it asks for an UPDATE and whatever we try does NOT work. It is a 4.1U. We are stuck with this and can't use it until we "update" it.

    THANKS

I do not have access to view this folder... :/

I assume the files I would be downloading are all on the link you gave me? I'm trying to find "smashsmall" in another location, but so far nothing.

Also, when you say "complete soft mod guide..." that would be your guide like the one posted here: " http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html " right

Another note: Don't I need the SSBB game itself to actually use the "smash stack"? Letterbomb, or bannerbomb v1 look like better methods since I don't have the games... that is unless if I could burn a backup of the game that might work. O,o

(deleted old text) Problem fixed with the first file, and got the iso out of it.

(just when it seems something isn't working I try again and it works. lol)

x_x the file is too big for any of the dvds I have... more money to put out just to get the wii fixed... Is there any method you know of that could work on a single layer dvd? If I were to get some dual layer dvds... it would take about a week to get them from what I can find.

I feel like I should find someone with a functional wii who would be willing to let me connect my wasabi dx to so that I can make sure it is configured to autoboot, or is that not necessary if I can get a dual layer disk to get this method to work? (By the way... does it have to be DVD-R DL, or can I use the DVD+R DL? )

I've gotten ahold of some DVD+R DL disks, and I burned the smashsmall file. It ran with some point of disk read errors where if I ejected the dvd then reinserted it it would continue to run. I followed the instructions, but when I get to the point of inserting the SD card when going back to the home screen to re-enter to access the SD card... it goes white, and I can't do anything but turn off the wii and start again. Any ideas? Could it be that there were flaws in the disk when I burned it, and that made it have these read errors? I can try making a laser cleaner disk, or buying one to try that as well.

It is hard to say, there is some issue with the burned disc or the dvd drive which may or may not be related to your issue. There are two smash stack pal exploits, one for a wii with a save file and one for a wii without. Probably a good idea to give the sd card a format with the panasonic sd card formater. Try laying the wii flat on its side. Possibly clean the dvd drive lens. The wii is very very picky when it comes to dl disc, so it could be the media. Verbatim are considered best. One last thing, ensure you set the layer break to 2084960, burn it with imgburn at 4x. Also make sure you are using giantpunes smash stack pal exploit, and not smash stack ntsc.

YAY it's all working. I just tried the same disk a few times, and got it to work eventually. Now I have a Boot2 wii! :3 Thank you so much for your help. Now off to complete the rest of the softmodding. ^-^

So I have a wii with:
    • Serial Number: LU:50027
    • Drive chipset is "GC2R-D2A"
    • Boot2 compatible :3
