Exclamation Possibly a type of bricking/Semi-bricking, hoping it can be fixed.

For a while now I've been having problems making my Wii play GameCube retail discs, it did years ago before I hacked. After my brother convinced me to let him softmod my Wii saying he knew what he was doing it wasn't hard I decided fine, so he did it (following a YouTube video which I now know wasn't smart but it seemed to have worked). Little by little I had started being greeted with Disc Read Errors for GameCube games (didn't notice till about a month ago so I can't say for sure if the way my brother modded it had anything to do with it at all), Wii games work with little to no issues (once in a while a disc tells me to eject and try again but some of my discs are a bit scuffed anyway)...GC games just don't read at all for more than a few minutes if I'm lucky. So I thought "maybe I should just rehack it myself using the guide on WiiHacks.com, they've always been a good source", so I did. Sadly the issue still persists. Here's what I've tried:

Getting a new laser put in...no good, worked the same as the old laser), was told it could be the softmod
Replaced the BC and mIOS files, no good. Tried using several different IOS (58,236,249) to install them with MMM but still nothing
Cleaned all my discs and had the Wii cleaned...No good.
Re-hacked...no good, followed the Softmod ANY Wii guide on this site, not skipping ANYTHING (even the optional steps...only thing I did different than the guide was using MMM instead of WiiMod as WiiMod would not launch the HackMii installer) and still no change.

This leads me to wonder if it could be a type of semi-brick? Please experts of WiiHacks, enlighten me here...if it's not the laser, the discs or the Softmod, what else could it be? I must be overlooking a possibility here. Could it be something to do with the NAND? I've read that the first NAND block stores important system things...perhaps there's some partial data corruption going on? These are the only things I can think of, as you can tell I'm not all that knowledgeable about all this stuff (yet), so I'm pretty much grasping at straws here...all I know is I want to fix my Wii, don't want a new Wii or a workaround (though I am much more open to a workaround than a new Wii).

Thank you for any advice, info, or anything you can offer

Not a brick, more like a gremlin. To start try to simply reinstall mios and bc, if your only playing retail disc. Load wiimod and install mios and install bc, I believe they are found in the ios menu.

Are you having any issues with retail wii games from disc?

Not that I've noticed, I was initially but when I took it to get the laser replaced the guy said the new laser didn't help so he cleaned the old one and put it back in. The problem now only happens with GC games. Which IOS should I use to install the MIOS and BC? I've DLed new wads for them from NUS Downloader and ModMii (that way I can try different source and be sure)

Nevermind, I guess it used "ABRHOT" or something like that :P hoping it works out. This is probably the 10th time I've tried re-installing the MIOS and BC (though this time I used ATD to remove the old ones first and I installed with WiiMod instead of MMM

    Edit: No luck

Sorry, I have no idea. There are a few possibilities.
    -issues with some priilaoder hack
    -issue with the system ios
-issue with your retail gc disc
    -hardware issue

    You could try
    -disablabling priilaoder hacks
-reinstalling system ios, clean without patches just to check
-you could try using a gc disc loader from the hbc, possibly use a cmios
-you could try burning a backup of your game and loading a backup with a loader and cmios
-you could try dumping the game disc to usb to see if the wii can even read the disc
-dml via sd loading or usb if needed.

I'll probably be stuck with USB Loading, I haven't yet tried an HBC Disc loader recently but last I did the backups still worked. The problem is I no longer have a way to rip backup, my new laptops drive can't read the games and the Wii (using CleanRip or USB GX, refuses to rip them more than 50%)
Thanks for the help though, it's most likely seeming to be hardware of some sort (it's not the laser so I don't know what it could be). I'd try swapping in a new disc drive to the Wii but its kinda a waste of $40 if the hardware issue lies elsewhere.

WTF? It loads my BackUps via NeoGamma but not the real games??????

sometimes I use Wad Manager 1.8 because it does not ask for a IOS. You might be right about the NAND or Your disc drive could be damage where it prevent GameCube games from loading, not the laser or all your GC games are damage, does your GC games work on your GameCube system?

Yup, no issues of I play them on my GC system. Just the Wii won't read them for more than a few minutes. I'm trying everything to narrow down the possible problems, so far it's looking like some hardware issue (replacing the BC and MIOS, using different loaders and totally re-softmodding it did nothing). Since the laser was replaced and also did nothing I'm think it must be something else, online research says possibly a issue with the motherboard or the part of the drive that loads the game into the internal disc tray.

EDIT: Something I should probably realized sooner but it couldn't have been the MIOS or BC at all anyway, reason being they are needed to play GC so if there was something wrong with those I wouldn't even be able to USB load GC games cause MIOS and BC are needed to enter GC mode. So that, I believe, rules those out. So it's got to be some type of hardware or NAND issue...if only I knew anything about how to open and, if needed, repair my NAND lol.
