Please reference the Black screen sticky which contains the following:

Option #3 Recovery Menu via savemii or savemiifrii

If you have a black screen, you may be able to start the wii's recovery menu by using savemii or savemiifrii. If the recovery menu loads, it may be possible to execute applications using autoboot disks, with a preconfigured autobooting modchip.
If you buy a modchip, make sure it is preconfigured by the seller to autoboot and region free, without any update blocks enabled.

To try savemiifrii, you will need a gc-controller in port #4. Orginal controllers from nintendo require modification of the dpad for this to work. For this reason, cheap generic controllers are usually better. Hold all four directions of the dpad down at the same time. Continue to hold them down and boot the wii while holding. If it works you will see a blackscreen with you system menu displayed in the lower right corner.

Be sure to keep holding all four buttons for a bit after boot. Maybe try a different controller.

    You're probably out of options.

So I have a Minicon Madcats controller, but holding all four buttons does nothing. I do think that it may be the controller, since I tried it on my second, unbricked 4.2u wii and it did nothing.

Oh, I did forget to mention that I have a second, unbricked wii that is at 4.2u. Is there anything I can do with that to unbrick my first wii?

EDIT: There is one more thing. I just noticed that the wii's disc motor thing starts right when I turn the wii on, even though there is no disc in it. It's like it's trying to take in a cd then spit it out but there isn't a cd.

EDIT 2: Okay, so from experimenting with my normal wii, I can't go straight from off (red LED) to on (green LED) and use savemiifrii, but it works from standby (orange LED) to on (green LED). This means that I just have to get my bricked wii into standby, somehow. Does anyone know how to get a bricked wii into standby?

EDIT 3:Further experimenting shows that it doesn't matter for the unbricked wii to into the thing where it just shows the version number, it just can't be turning on (green LED) from being off (red LED). I am going to call my older brother and have him come do the thing with switching the NAND chips to unbrick my wii if I can't fix it before he gets here. If anyone can tell me how to get a bricked wii into standby, it will be appriciated.

Did you take apart the controller? Thats the only way to actually have all four directions pushed at the same time...
