Just been helping somebody who has followed multiple guides from multiple sources and ended up with a syscheck that looked good all correct ios installed/ signed etc and could not load from usb or back up disc or even play originals. We tried reinstalling system menu etc but to no avail. We then tried an official nin update but it just stubbed the cios and nothing else changed and the problems remained. Finally we decided to run the safe 4.2 firmware updater as I assumed something somewhere had been deleted that shouldn't have been and when it was finished original games worked again and then after softmod all was working and everything happy days.

Just thought this might help out some people who are having major issues on 4.2 as I keep reading about peopole wanting to virginise there wii.
