My Wii died.

So, I was playing Super Mario Galaxy 2, I just collected all Green Stars and ended my games with 242 Power Stars. I was about to quit, but I saved my game before leaving.
Guess what: my parents were fooling around with the electricity without telling me, and so my Wii lost power while I was saving. I hoped that my savegame did not got damaged. Though I completed the game, I still wished to have my savegame. Things seem to be worse.

I powered on my Wii again, but nothing was responding. The screen stayed black, the WiiMotes could not connect, and there was no sound. I don't know what exactly is the cause of my Wii being damaged, but it's either or my NAND is corrupted because something went wrong with writing data to it (it's doubtful, but it could happen), or my Wii has got some electricity shock. Either way, my Wii is dead and I don't have a Wii now. I thought I was having bad luck when finding out that the blu-ray drive of my PS3 was broken, and then you also discover the next day that your Wii is broken. How lucky am I?

Well, pretty lucky, because I still have my warranty for the Wii which ends in 3 days. Gonna call Nintendo, and hopefully I will get another Wii, though it's modded. Of course I get one with firmware 4.3, and I don't have LEGO Indiana Jones. I do have Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but I live in Holland (tiny little country that we all have heard of). Yippie. That means I need to rent or borrow it somewhere.

This was my first, and ''very'' intresting Blog. Have a fun time with your Wii, 'cause I miss it now already.

Hehe, thanks. I guess we'll all get my answer tommorow. It's past 9 p.m. now, so hopefully the Big N. wil be kind enough to get me another Wii. Otherwise I have to buy a new one, and I am running kinda short on cash.

I don't know. From what I have heard, Big N. just gives you a revised one, modded or not. I also heard various stories that you have to pay them a fund because it's modded, and you violated The Terms of Agreement because of that. I hope Nintendo's service is better than the service of Sony. Sony just leaves me with a broken PS3 while it's still in its warranty period.

According to the law, all products you buy should have a warranty period of two years. Sony only gives their customers one year, and I bought my PS3 in May, 2009.

    I think so lol
I had the same with mac the hdd failed after just over a year( it can happen anytime)
It was a WD HDD so I contacted WD to see if I could get a replacement because someone had told me about the 2 yr thing but they told me that as soon as they leave the depot and mac put them in their machines it then becomes macs responsibility and mac only offered a 1yr warranty unless you pay for an en
extended warranty. How ever if I was to buy a hdd from them I would get a 2 yr warranty

@igo6strings: Thanks for the advice, but that's not the case. That's the first thing I do once I find something not working. Thanks again.
@narse1979: You feel really ********** at such a moment. Especially if it's like 1 week after losing your warranty.

i wasnt to happy - But it meant that we didnt need to take it to a mac dealer. I have a friend who supplied the 1b drive and fitted it for £100. Macs arent as simple to replace the hdd in as pc's

Super Mario Galaxy 2 was great in my opinion. Nothing to complain about it. Those Green Stars were a bit easy, but overall the game really was enjoyable.
Better than Super Mario Sunshine in my opinion.

First off, sorry to hear that man.Probably took a power surge. A good surge protecter is like $40+ but I have my Wii/PC/TV/surround, etc on surge protecters. Maybe invest in a good one next time. Not trying to be sarcastic, just a suggestion. Make sure it is a true surge protecter and not just a power strip. SMG2 is probably the best game released since NSMB in my opinion.

That happened with my DVD player, I was watching a movie and bam, the thing lost power. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and nothing. The next day I saw the standby light on, hmm, there must have been a built in circuit breaker because it works now. Guess I wont be connecting that portable USB HDD to my DVD player again.

The fun thing is that my Wii showed up a red light since I plugged it in again, but it fails when it's turned on. Nothing shows up, and the WiiMotes won't sync.
I tried getting in the Rescue Menu, but no luck at all. Priiloader was not there, and I did not get the option to install BootMii as Boot2. You can compare it to a brick.
Maybe my Bluetooth model is broken, but I doubt it. Just gonna call Nintendo, and see what they have to tell about it. I still have my warranty, so the only thing that could bother
is the fact that it's being modded.

Oh yeah by the way, thanks thatfloorguy. I will look into it. You recommend any brand?
Yeah, sorry for a double post, but the Edit button seems to ignore me in Blogs...

Believe it or not the person who said that earlier did have a point. Any sudden power surges etc and the Wii will not turn on. It's a long shot but under the wii there is a little case under the wii drive and using a custom skrew driver there is a battery. Take it out. (although it's probably not necessary.) And unplug your wii from the power outlet. Wait 30 mins then put ti back in and see if it works.

Seriously. Having problems reading? The Wii can turn on, but it's like some hardware got a shock. I have been pulling the cables out and let it be for 3 hours, but still nothing.
I am not gonna screw it open, since that will void my warranty anyway, and if it then doesn't work, it's over. I don't want to take such a risk.

so my Wii lost power while I was saving
Any power loss when writing to the Nand can cause a brick. Sounds like that is what happened to me.

That was my first thought. Thought it would be more logical if it's some electricity shock, but now that you say this it could very well be that the NAND is damaged, or formatted in some way.
Well, I sended it to Nintendo yesterday, 'cause there is really nothing I could do with it. No Priiloader, Rescue Menu etc.

Anyway, thanks for all the comments, you all. I appreciate it that some people are trying to help, suggest, and go on.
    You've been great.
