What does the future have in store?

I am always amazed when I look back and see how fast things have changed. I remember when I was playing games on a commodore64 and Atari.and then Nintendo blew all that out of the water and now I'm playing and downloading games on my iphone. I remember when a TV was a piece of furniture all on its own and you had to actually get up and turn a dial to flip through all 3 channels. Now you got HD flatscreens that hook up to the internet and you can set your pvr to record a show from your office or local coffee shop.

Technology has made insane leaps in the past several decades and I just stop wondering whats next? I never was a Trekki but I can't help but wonder if Gene Roddenberry was a time traveller. I mean in the 70s a automatic sliding door was unheard of and now I walk through them every time I go to walmart. Captain Kirk had a nifty little communication device that allow him to talk to his shp, I see 12 years old walking around with those everyday. Scientest even create ANTI-MATTER!!! I mean, what ever this guy was on, it was some really potent candy. How long before we get replicaters, beaming technology, and of course the gaming mecca, the holodeck?

We have motion sensing controllers, soon to be replace by motion sensing cameras. 3D tvs are just around the bend, whats next,?

Within the next ten years or so we'll see the emergence of a supposedly nickel/dime-sized necklace with many of the functions of a 3g mobile device (wireless internet, email, camera, etc), and a built-in projector with motion tracking capabilities, which will let you interact with applications (taking a picture, scrolling, typing) using your fingers in mid-air. A basic demo already exists and is being developed by a guy at MIT.

Another project that's really early in the development process is the placing of wirelessly controlled/activated LED into contact lenses. An eventual perceived outcome being the reception of data from an external source (the internet) in our normal visual field. Good luck charging those bad boys lol.

And as Jetsons as it sounds, personal hover cars already exist. Well they aren't hover cars lol, more like mini private jets with four turbine engines. But they are coming. It's still a significant amount of time away, but skyways are already being mapped out in preparation.

I also read somewher that some researchers have developed a material (still at the very early stages) that can bend light around itself to make it semi invisible (think predator).

A gaming console that doesn't get the rrod (xbox 360) get the yellow light of death (ps3) .

or the DVD drive magically stops working (wii).

oh yeah PC games we can actually play without a video card upgrade.
