Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3.5 Gets Dual Booted on HP TouchPad
HP recently let us know that they would briefly be cutting the price tag of their debut tablet, the HP TouchPad, to $99. While this was a great thing for consumers looking to get down on the tablet it wasn’t too good for the device itself as HP accompanied the announcement by letting us know that they would be shutting down their webOS hardware division.
Due to this fire sale consumers everywhere flocked to retailers that had the device in stock to grab the tablet. One of the biggest reasons consumers are so interested in the tablet is because of hopes that someone, somewhere would be able to install a working version of Android on the device. Well, one such team has apparently been making quite a bit of progress who go by the name of Team Touchdroid. Unfortunately, thetouchscreen
does not yet work but they have been able to dual boot both webOS and Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3.5 on the device.
No word on exactly when this method will be made available to the public but we’ll certainly keep you posted.
