No problems on my Modded wii. Backup play great and i'm not bricked. I don't think there is a way to detect the chip because of the chips location.
I do like however the envelopes are now white if you get a system msg. Also the way you add friend codes is a little different, and you can move people around now.
It told me something about parental controls when the update went in place but no biggie to me on that.
