So, after repeated attempts with the D2Pro9 v3 and wii-clip v4C (which strangely has V3C molded into the plastic), I finally got a red and blue LED to light. First 3 tries resulted in a solid red LED and inching. That little bugger is quite picky about being properly seated.
I was hoping there would be more of a definite snap or click once the clip is properly mounted.
Oh well...so far so good. Now to try out some discs.
