There is no harm in brick blocking a game from the same region. Think of it this way, you will go to a store and buy a game it comes with a update and then you back it up the two are 1 and the same. I personally check all my games before i burn them just to make sure it the right region. I use wiu which tells me the region of the game and also what kinda of update is on it. For games like SSBB a update is required because it add dual layer support to the wii. So to sum up i would say check the games you get if your downloading but if you make your own backup then there is no need to brick block.
