D2Pro (discontinued) vs D2Pro9

I was getting ready to purchase the D2Pro last night and started learning that it was actually discontinued. So i went for the D2Pro9 which replaced it. However I didn't see anywhere that sold it with the solderless clip.

The solderless D2Pro is still available for purchase with clip already on it. Is it worth it or should I wait it out for D2Pro9? I'm more worried about updates no longer being made for the D2Pro and they only do the 9.

Also, They sell a D2pro-to-D2Pro9 conversion chip you solder onto you D2Pro to make it a D2Pro9. Why? What's the advantage?

I really hate to purchase the D2Pro9 right now and be forced to buy the programmer since they just released a firmware update the other day fixing several bugs.

oooorr screw them both and go with Wasabi? haha.

Thanks.
