Its not legally possible for nintendo to do
It would not be legal to brick the system. But may be possible to make games that wont work on moded systems or block your wii from internet access. Like Microsoft xbox 360 systems. My 360 wont let me play online anymore but have no problem playing games on it. Nintendo could do something different.
