Before you start to mod your Wii you need to find out the version of your board.
• GC2R-D2A
This is the first generation of boards. Only D2B-Modchips work, therefore hereafter as "D2B" declared.
• GC2-D2B
The second generation of boards also only works with a D2B-Modchip. Later on a new version with cut pins was available. This makes the installation of a chip more difficult.
• GC2-D2C
The latest generation of boards. Here it is interesting, because who owns such a board must be in a D2C-Modchip access to backup copies on its Wii play. The D2C-Modchips are in this FAQ in the corresponding separate category.
• GC2-D2C (2)
There is a new generation of GC2-D2C out there which already got modded too!
